California Census to Hold Press Briefing on State’s Strategy

SACRAMENTO – As California kicks off its comprehensive statewide strategy to ensure Californians are counted in the 2020 Census, Census leaders will hold a media telebriefing call on Friday to recap the state’s activities and outline a roadmap to a successful count. The call will include discussion on the unprecedented campaign underway to reach hard to count communities and the action California is taking to overcome the unique challenges to a complete and accurate count. In the lead up to the 2020 Census, the California Complete Count – Census 2020 Office Director Ditas Katague and Deputy Directors Emilio Vaca and Martha Dominguez will provide the briefing, which will immediately be followed by questions from the media.

The California Complete Count – Census 2020 Office

Once each decade, the U.S. Census Bureau attempts to count every person in the United States. Californians will begin receiving invitations to participate in the Census starting March 12, 2020. This enumeration will be the first to rely heavily on online responses. California leaders have invested $187.2 million toward a statewide outreach and communication campaign.
